Official Napoli Update, Costantino Favasuli Injury Diagnosis

SSC Napoli has released an official statement confirming that midfielder Costantino Favasuli suffered a significant muscle injury while representing the Italy Under-21 national team.

During their match against Armenia, Favasuli was forced off the pitch after picking up physical discomfort. Subsequent medical examinations back at the club have revealed a second degree tear of the rectus femoris muscle located in his right thigh.

This type of injury is a serious setback for both the player and the club, as a second degree tear typically requires a structured, multi week recovery period. The rectus femoris is a key muscle in the quadriceps group, which is heavily relied upon for sprinting, kicking, and sudden changes of direction in football. Consequently, the coaching staff will have to plan their upcoming tactical lineups without his availability for the foreseeable future.

To ensure a full and safe recovery, the club has confirmed that Favasuli will begin his targeted rehabilitation program immediately at the SSC Napoli Training Center.

Medical specialists and physiotherapists will closely monitor his progress day by day to rebuild strength and flexibility in the affected thigh without risking any premature aggravation of the tear.

While the club has not yet published an exact timeframe for his return to full training, muscle tears of this severity generally sideline players for several weeks. Napoli's medical team will provide further updates as the player advances through the different milestones of his recovery protocol.
